Cruz gets bail after preliminary hearing taken on the North Shore (Pirates)

Highly ranked Pirates prospect Oneil Cruz faces bail of $34,000 U.S. after being arrested earlier this week in connection with a fatal car accident in the Dominican Republic. 

Cruz, a 21-year-old shortstop, reportedly faces charges related to driving under the influence of alcohol. The accident reportedly involved Cruz crashing into a motorcycle that was carrying three people. None of the three on the motorcycle survived the crash. There is still no word on the list of official charges Cruz faces. 

Cruz still faces trial and up to five years in prison if convicted. According to the Dominican News Paper Listin Diario, the Public Ministry requested three months of preventative detention for Cruz as the case continues to develop.
