Colton Sceviour won't play in this afternoon's game against the Flyers, Mike Sullivan announced before the game.
Sceviour was added to the NHL's COVID protocol list, which most likely rules him out for Sunday's game against the Rangers as well. Players put on the NHL's COVID Protocol list are unable to travel, practice, or play with the team. Being put on the list does not necessarily mean that a player tested positive for COVID-19.
Per an NHL release earlier in the season, players can be put on the list for "(1) an initial positive test which remains unconfirmed until confirmatory testing is completed pursuant to the Positive Test Protocol; (2) mandated isolation for symptomatic individuals pursuant to the Positive Test Protocol; (3) required quarantine as a high-risk close contact in accordance with the Positive Test Protocol; (4) isolation based on a confirmed positive test result and/or; (5) quarantine for travel or other reasons as outlined in the COVID-19 Protocol."
To be removed from the list, a player must receive two negative tests over 48 hours.
Kasperi Kapanen, John Marino, and Sidney Crosby have all spent time on the list this season, all for reasons other than having COVID-19.
Before the game, Brian Dumoulin and Evan Rodrigues were both also activated from injured reserve, an indication that they will likely play.
Anthony Angello was recalled from the taxi squad to the active roster. In a subsequent move, to meet the minimum requirement of four players on the taxi squad, defenseman Josh Maniscalco was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to the taxi squad. Maniscalco has been a healthy scratch in Wilkes-Barre since Feb. 13.
"Josh will find (his) way back into the lineup," Wilkes-Barre head coach J.D. Forrest told me after the first game in which Maniscalco was scratched. "This is a competitive from the inside-out team. No one can get comfortable with their spot."
