PNC Park is going to be at full capacity in time for their Fourth of July weekend series against the Brewers.
On Tuesday, the club announced its plans to reopen PNC Park to full capacity. The first phase will begin in June, where they will start selling seats at 55% capacity, with three-foot social distancing. That will be in effect from June 3 to June 23, where the Pirates will play 12 games over four series between the Marlins, Dodgers, Indians and White Sox.
Once the team returns home from a road trip on July 1, the park will be at 100% capacity with no seating restrictions.
“We are incredibly excited to continue the process of opening PNC Park up to more fans and taking the next important steps toward operating PNC Park at full capacity,” Pirates president Travis Williams said in a released statement. “Summer in Pittsburgh is about enjoying time with friends and family at the ballpark. With the easing of restrictions, this is the perfect time to begin opening the ballpark without limitations and offer the perfect venue to come back together as a community.”
PNC Park will still be at 25% capacity and following the six-foot distancing guideline for this upcoming homestand from May 25-30.
The Pirates announced Friday that fans who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 will no longer be required to wear masks at the ballpark, in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Health’s announcement last week.
Additionally, the Pirates will do away with the month-to-month ticket sale cycle that they had been using this season. All tickets will go on sale to the general public on May 26 at 10 a.m. Season ticket holders will have access to their original seat locations starting July 1.
Tickets will remain digital through Major League Baseball’s Ballpark app.
