RICHMOND, Va. -- As All-Star Games go, baseball’s midsummer classic, while seldom a “classic” in any sense of the word, is nonetheless easily the best and most watchable of the four major sports.

One of the elements of the exhibition that I’ve always enjoyed is that the players have always worn their regular uniforms, rather than some special design created to sell merchandise. That tradition comes to an end this season, as the teams will both be wearing dreadful, homogenous henley-type jerseys. It shouldn’t affect the game itself, of course, but it’ll definitely be just a little less visually interesting.

It’s another ignominious feather in the cap for Rob Manfred, but likely not enough to move him out of the three-way tie for worst commissioner in North American sports!
