Having already spoken to Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds about their general manager position, the Steelers went back to Indianapolis to request permission to speak to another member of that team's front office regarding the position.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Steelers have requested permission to speak to Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown about the possibility of replacing GM Kevin Colbert once he retires at the conclusion of this year's NFL Draft in April.

Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, they also plan to speak to Packers co-director of player personnel John Wojciechowski.

Brown and Wojciechowski would be the seventh and eighth candidates the Steelers have spoken to about the position, joining in-house candidates Brandon Hunt and Omar Khan and external contenders Dodds, JoJo Wooden of the Chargers Ryan Cowden of the Titans and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick.

Brown began his career in scouting as an intern with the Colts in 2000, moving on to the Bears as assistant director of pro scouting the next season. In 2008, he became Washington's director of pro personnel, holding that position until 2013, when he left to become Cleveland's vice president of pro personnel for the next two years. Since 2016, he has been with the Colts.

Brown played football at North Carolina State and grew up in Hampton, Virginia.

Wojciechowski has been with the Packers since 2012. He was elevated to his current position in 2018.

A former football player at Duquesne, Wojciechowski has served as a college scout for the Dallas Cowboys (2003-11) and Jacksonville Jaguars (1998-02) following two seasons as a player personnel assistant with Steelers in 1996 and 1997.
