RICHMOND, Va. -- Despite my picking on them a little bit with this example, the 1978-79 Penguins were one of the franchise's better teams over their first half-century, as I plan to detail in a forthcoming installment of Canon. Hardly world-beaters, but certainly more deserving of praise than being the butt of a lame April Fool’s Day joke!
Speaking of which, I hope you made it through unscathed Friday and didn’t fall victim to any pranks or hoaxes. I was, unfortunately, nicked by my 10-year-old, whose offer of a plate of brownies for dessert I eagerly accepted, until I realized it was literally a plate of brown E’s cut from construction paper. Live and learn!
