The Steelers are bringing in former Arizona State offensive coordinator and veteran coach Glenn Thomas to its offensive staff as an assistant coach, it was announced Wednesday morning.

Most notably, Thomas spent seven seasons in the NFL, including four as an offensive assistant for Atlanta from 2008-'11 and three as the quarterbacks coach for Atlanta from 2012-'14. Under Thomas' tutelage, Matt Ryan was selected to two of his four career Pro Bowl appearances (2012, 2014), and he led the NFL with a 68.6% completion rate in 2012. In Thomas' three seasons as the Falcons' quarterbacks coach, Ryan completed 67.4% of his passes for 86 touchdowns, 45 interceptions, and 290.2 yards per game for a 94.1 rating.

Thomas has a history with Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett. He was on Temple's coaching staff and was one of the main recruiters of Pickett out of high school. Pickett originally committed as a three-star prospect to play at Temple before later de-committing and then committing to play at Pitt.

Thomas spent the 2022 season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Arizona State under Herm Edwards and interim coach Shane Aguano, as the Sun Devils posted a 3-9 overall record and a 2-7 mark in the Pac-12 while finishing with the eighth-ranked offense in the conference at 26.1 points per game.

His coaching history includes stops at UNLV (2020-'21), Baylor (2017-'19), and Temple (2015-'16) as each program's quarterbacks coach. He served in offensive coordinator roles for Temple beginning in 2016, and held that title at Baylor under former head coach Matt Rhule and at UNLV.
