RICHMOND, Va. -- Considering the deeply disappointing manner the Penguins' playoff run abruptly ended after the NHL's 2011-12 season, with an undisciplined, disastrous drubbing at the hands of the hated Flyers in the first round, the fact that the next season was delayed four months by a lockout was just salt in the wound.
When the NHL did finally get its collective act together and the season underway, the Penguins made the most of it, at least, welcoming back the fans with a victory over those same Flyers, and wins in 8 of the first 11 games:
