This time of year is always interesting. Football is in full swing, basketball is just starting and both programs are in good positions. The football team is coming off its first loss but was slotted in at No. 18 in the first College Football Playoff rankings and the men's basketball program started its season with a dominating 96-56 victory over Radford.
I'll start by saying, there's no better way to start the year than with a win and the men's basketball did it convincingly. Ishmael Leggett and Jaland Lowe played as advertised but I'm curious to see how the roles of other players, mostly Cam Corhen, Damian Dunn and Brandin Cummings, develop as the season progresses. I was also in Dallas this past weekend for Pitt's loss to SMU and it was ugly from the word go. It was easily the team's worst performance of the season. Javon McIntyre told us Wednesday that they simply got "punched in the mouth." Sometimes a wake-up call is a good thing after an undefeated start, so we'll see how they respond this week.
There's plenty to talk about, so ask away!
