In a shocking story, the son of Jeff Ulbrich, the Falcons' defensive coordinator, has been identified by the National Football League as the perpetrator of a prank call to Shedeur Sanders during the draft.
Jax Ulbrich, 21, got Sanders' private number, a phone issued by the NFL specifically for the draft, and called Sanders during the draft's second night, impersonating Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, telling Sanders the franchise was drafting him and that he would hear back soon and just "have to wait a little longer."
Jax took to social media Sunday to issue a formal apology to Sanders, writing he had made "a tremendous mistake" and "what I did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing and shameful," and calling his actions "selfish and childish." Later in the post he thanked Sanders for taking his call, indicating he had first apologized in person.
The Falcons said Jeff Ulbrich will face no consequences and will look into their protocols to ensure players' personal information is better protected.
Pure cruelty. Not sure how anyone could think this is funny. At 21, one would expect a person to know better. Can only hope he learns from this and becomes a better person from it. Also, where is the public apology to Loomis?
