Jason Botterill's been busy, The Kraken's new general manager has now made his third trade in a week, acquiring forward Frederick Gaudreau from the Wild for a 2025 fourth-round pick. Previously, he traded for forward Joe Veleno, sending Andre Burakovsky to the Blackhawks in exchange, and exactly one week ago, acquired forward Mason Marchment from the Stars, also for a 2025 fourth-rounder.
Gaudreau, who spent 19 games with the Penguins in 2021, has 410 career games with the Predators and Wild over eight seasons, racking up 61 goals and 91 assists. He had 18 goals and 19 assists in 82 games for the Wild last season and had no points and a plus-2 in six playoff games against the Golden Knights in a third-line role.
It seems Botterill is intent on shoring up the bottom six. Gaudreau will center the fourth line wth Veleno on the wing and Marchment seems destined for a third-line role on the left wing, with Jaden Schwartz and Jared McCann holding that spot on the top two lines, respectively. Marchment and Gaudreau do provide flexibility, each having the ability to move up the lineup as needed.
