• Kyle Dubas said Tristan Jarry will go down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton given he clears waivers.
• Dubas on what ultimately led to the decision to place Jarry on waivers: "I think we had committed to when he came back, giving it some good runway. Credit to AndyChiodo and Sully, they stuck with it and I think he played 17 of the 27 games or 18 of the 28 since he had come back up. Had a good stretch there, won four in a row against good competition and then, from my view of it, it was just be patient, see the way that it unfolded and with this date in mind being important for us because we're about to go on the road for a couple weeks and felt that would be enough time to measure it."
• Joel Blomqvist will be back with the NHL club, per Dubas.
"At this point, just feel it's best in the long run for the team and for Tristan to allow Joel to come up here. We think over the past year and a half, with his play in Wilkes-Barre and when he's been up here with us, he's earned the right to have a go at it and we get a chance to see what he can do in a prolonged look."
• While Jarry's last stint in the AHL was deemed a conditioning stint, this one is doesn't have a timeline. Dubas said Jarry will have earn his way back to the NHL if he clears waivers.
• Dubas was asked if this was a difficult decision to make based on how it might reflect on him given that he gave Jarry an extension during his first summer with the organization. Jarry is currently in his second season of a five-year deal that holds a $5.375 million average annual value and runs through the 2027-28 season.
"In terms of how it reflects on me, this is the job. You have to make decisions. The job is to make as few mistakes as possible, acknowledging that all of that is out there in the open for everybody to judge. I understand and agree with that. You're not going to get any defense from me on it, it was my decision in the first couple weeks of being here."
• Dubas added that it would speak worse of him if they made a mistake, prolonged it and continued to try to force it: "If there are mistakes that I make, I try to rectify them, and come out here and face the music."
Here's 5:52 from Dubas' session:
