Denmark beat Germany 2-1 in a shootout on Tuesday to clinch a spot in the World Championship quarterfinals. Denmark will play Canada at 2:20 p.m. on Thursday in Herning, Denmark.
Canada finished atop the Group A standings with 19 points, followed by Sweden (18), Finland (16) and Austria (10). Switzerland led the Group B standings with 19 points, followed by USA (17), Czechia (17) and Denmark (11).
Other quarterfinal matchups include USA-Finland, Switzerland-Austria, and Sweden-Czechia.
Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia, France, Germany, Norway, Hungary and Kazakhstan all failed to qualify for the quarterfinals and are eliminated. France and Kazakhstan finished last in their groups and will be relegated for the 2026 World Championship, set to be held in Switzerland. They will be replaced next year by Great Britain and Italy, who finished atop the standings in the Division 1A tournament.
