• Ballgame. My God.
• GOAL: Kaapo Kakko into the empty net from center red. Time: 18:57, third period. Kraken, 4-2
• Jarry's off. Two minutes left.
• Beyond belief. Really. Five minutes to go now.
• GOAL: Tolvanen just 50 seconds later on an equaly easy redirect. No one in front to cover. Good Lord. This storyline just never, ever, every stops. Assists: Shane Wright, Josh Mahura. Time: 8:54, third period. Kraken, 3-2

• GOAL: Oleksiak dances to the inside around Michael Bunting, easily beats Jarry on the short side. Assists: Oliver Bjorkstrand, Larsson. Time: 8:04, third period. Tie, 2-2
Seattle goal!
Scored by Jamie Oleksiak with 11:56 remaining in the 3rd period.
• Sid line comes close to insurance, not once but twice. Still a very solid pace, smart approach for the home team.
• Every puck's getting deep. That's how it's done.
• Good pressure from Seattle's Brandon Tanev line, unsurprisingly. Imagine having a player like that still in the fold. Or McCann, for that matter.
• Really sharp defensive shift there for Tomasino, tracking back as F3. Didn't know he had that in him. Keep learning more.
• Third period underway.
• Shots are 28-10, shot attempts 57-27. Hasn't been a game like this all year.
• End second period. Oh, my. The clock didn't start for the final 38.6 seconds, the Seattle bench noticed, and the refs just heard from Toronto by way of blown horn to stop the period.
• Couple of really good chances for ... Pickering? Yeah, jumped up, made some stuff happen, but couldn't beat Daccord.
• Geno's got some juice here tonight. Looks as fresh as he should be.
• Save by Jarry from long range off the shoulder. Reacted on his past two saves as if he didn't see the puck until the last second.
• LOL at shots now being 21-5. Halfway through.
• Word to the wise: Sid HATES being cross-checked. Wait and watch for how he'll respond.
• P.O Joseph off for cross-checking.
• Sid's back on the bench after a brief trip down the tunnel after being cross-checked by Adam Larsson. That would've been the penalty had Rust not scored.

• GOAL: Rust on a delayed penalty. That's No. 17 for No. 17. Seam-buster pass from Karlsson and a beauty with the extra attacker aboard. Wow. So well done. Other assist: Geno. Time: 4:42, second period. Penguins, 2-1
Pittsburgh goal!
Scored by Bryan Rust with 15:18 remaining in the 2nd period.
• Big block by O'Connor on Tolvanen. Felled for a moment.
• Two good back-to-back saves by Jarry to open it up. Actual pressure by the visitors for the first time. Must've been reamed out by Disco Dan between periods.
• Second period underway.
• The Penguins missed the net a dozen times that period.
• End first period. Shots were 16-2, shot attempts were 34-10, and that doesn't come close to describing the dominance in possession. Crazy.
• Owen Pickering takes a late, cheap shot from Eeli Tolvanen to the head. A little shaken up as he goes back to the bench. No call.
• Glass back with less than two minutes to go.
• Seriously, it's like a 20-minute power play. The Kraken aren't even touching the puck.
• The Penguins are dominating. Just dominating. Could/should have a handful of goals already. Some Daccord saves. Some flat-out misses. But the shots are now 16-2.
• Kraken get first chance in forever, and Jaden Schwartz clangs it off the left pipe. From distance. Unscreened. Just saying.
• Four more golden chances, but Daccord bounces back. Shots are 13-2.
• GOAL: Phil Tomasino one-hands a very loose puck in the paint behind Daccord. Kris Letang pushed it from the point through a Drew O'Connor screen to set that stage. Time: 9:19, first period. Tie, 1-1
— Hockey Daily 365 l NHL Highlights & News (@HockeyDaily365) January 15, 2025
• Halfway through the period, Kraken has two shots. Scored on half of them.
• Cody Glass helped off after being knocked backward into the end boards by old friend Jamie Oleksiak. Think he got his bell rung. Clean check, by the way.
• Big flurry for the Geno line now, but Daccord keeps making saves, which I'm told is allowed. Shots are 10-2 for Pittsburgh.
• GOAL: Well, if it wasn't going to be the first shot to beat Jarry, it'll be the second. Chandler Stephenson on a short-handed two-on-one, wrister from the right dot. Five-hole. Assists: Jared McCann, Daccord. Time: 2:12, first period. Kraken, 1-0
Short-handed goal for Seattle!
Scored by Chandler Stephenson with 17:48 remaining in the 1st period.
• Rickard Rakell sprung by Sid for a clean breakaway, never gets a great handle on the puck, shoots right into Daccord.
• Dan Bylsma takes the minor for too many men.
• Tristan Jarry stops a harmless flick from the right point. First-shot save. Holds on.
• Faceoff: Penguins vs. Kraken, Sidney Crosby vs. Matty Beniers, 7:08 p.m.
• It's a light crowd in here at the moment, but there's a ton of people stuck outside trying to navigate some nasty weather tonight. It'll get there.
• Evgeni Malkin’s on the ice and in the lineup:
