The Penguins added more forward depth on Tuesday, inking winger Justin Brazeau to a two-year deal that carries a $1.5 million cap hit.
Brazeau, 27, is more of what Dubas said they'd be targeting in free agency -- a two- or three-year deal, under 30 years old, and someone that won't block prospects if prospects earn a spot in the NHL. If Brazeau were to end up in the minors, $1.15 million of his contract would come off the books.
Brazeau has played six pro seasons, and last year was his only seasons spent entirely in the NHL. He recorded 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) in 57 games with the Bruins, then one goal and one assist in 19 games with the Wild after a mid-season trade.
Brazeau is big, at 6 foot 5, 220 pounds. He's a right-handed shot who can play both wings.
