Tristan Jarry passed through waivers unclaimed and cleared at 2 p.m. on Thursday and was re-assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
While in the minors, Jarry will still get paid his $5.375 million salary but his cap hit for the Penguins will be reduced by $1.15 million.
Unlike Jarry's conditioning stint earlier in the season, he will be in Wilkes-Barre indefinitely, with Kyle Dubas saying Wednesday that Jarry will have to "earn his way back up" while Joel Blomqvist replaces him on the NHL roster.
Jarry will presumably share the net in the AHL with Filip Larsson, though Larsson sustained an injury on Wednesday.
