For Henry Davis, it cannot be easy as a former number one overall pick to come into the game with a .170 batting average. Tonight, Davis was the catalyst in leading off the seventh inning with a double down the left-field line and scoring the winning run on a wild pitch by Brendon Little.
"It felt pretty good," Davis said. "Just trying to win."
Davis said he made some adjustments, "Some torso angle stuff. Even just staying balanced in the box. I've always taken pride in not striking out and hitting the ball hard and covering a lot of pitches, and it's just not something that the things I've done up here are indicative of. So going back to that is, obviously it won't happen overnight but as much as I can the rest of the season.”
No one sees that work and effort from Davis more than his teammate Paul Skenes, who was happy for Davis after the game.
"Yeah, it was good to see,” Skenes said. “He's probably the second hardest worker in the building, if you know what I mean. He does a really good job with his process. It's going to show up when you give it time."
