Source: Haddad fired as game planning and strategy coach
A day after Derek Shelton was fired as manager, the Pirates have also fired game planning and strategy coach RadleyHaddad, per source.
Haddad was in his fourth season with the team and was primarily part of preparing for run prevention and pitching as he attempted to integrate findings for the analytics department. Before his stint in Pittsburgh, Haddad spent time with the Yankees as a coaching assistant and bullpen catcher.
It's the first move since Don Kelly was named the manager yesterday afternoon. At that time, Ben Cherington said their could be additional moves made in the future as they found a way to support their new manager.
"I wouldn't be surprised if we have some adjustments to make sure we're supporting Donnie and the entire team as best we possibly can for the remainder of 2025," Cherington said. "It's very important to me and very important to Donnie to make sure he's in a position to do that manager's job and not do the job he was just doing."
