Braxton Ashcraft and Carmen Mlodzinski combined to toss six innings of two-run ball at PNC Park tonight, but it wasn't enough as the Reds secured a 2-1 win.

The offense, as the story has been all season long, managed to squeak out a double from Jared Triolo in the third inning, then only two singles from Spencer Horwitz and a single by Nick Gonzales for the rest of the game. 

Don Kelly said the Pirates saw "the kitchen sink" from Reds starter Nick Martinez, who allowed a run on four hits over seven innings. He walked two and struck out four.

"We ran the pitch count up on him early but he settled in and found a rhythm," Kelly said. "Those middle to later innings that he was in there, he really pitched effectively."
