Brandon Lowe's team-leading 13th home run of the season wasn't initially like the 12 he hit prior to this afternoon's game against the Cardinals here at Busch Stadium.
It was initially considered an inside-the-park homer in the first inning, but has since been reversed to being ruled a traditional over-the-fence homer. Still, at the time it required some extra hustle around the bases:
That's Lowe going the opposite way to hit a ball that appeared to hit off the top of the left-field wall near the foul pole. It trickled out into left-center field and allowed Lowe to circle the bases for the homer.
“It’s a homer, and really pumped he finished the play," DonKelly said afterward. "He was going all the way, so there was no doubt it was going to be a home run regardless if it was out of the park or inside the park. To get us off to that start there in the first inning, it was a big swing.”
