Don Kelly said Bubba Chandler was targeted for 80 pitches with him throwing on regular rest. Chandler threw 77 pitches over his five innings against the Giants today.

"Over the course of 162, trying to take care of him," Don Kelly said. "Full bullpen. (Isaac) Mattson and (Mason) Montgomery hadn’t really been used over the last 10 days. Felt really good about where they were at, rested, as well as (Dennis) Santana and (Gregory) Soto. Unfortunately just couldn’t hold it." 

Chandler said he's not going to question any decision made by Kelly or anyone within the organization. 

"Smart people that care about you, that want to see you succeed," Chandler said. "[If] me throwing one inning that day is what happens, pulls me after that, it's cool. If he lets me go nine, he lets me go nine. Like I said, they have the best interest in us, and they want to win. And our bullpen's very well rested right now. When Matty came into the game, I didn't think twice of it. It's like 'hey, let's go.' Up on the top rail, watch him throw, let him get after it."
