After BraxtonAshcraft and MikeBurrows covered their six combined innings, EvanSisk worked around an infield single by ShoheiOhtani and a walk to DaltonRushing to strand runners on first and second in the seventh. Then, IsaacMattson produced a 1-2-3 eighth, striking out AlexCall in the process.
“They looked confident and they didn’t look scared. That’s all you can ask for," BryanReynolds said. "They attacked and worked out of some jams. A really good night.”
Andrew McCutchen on the plethora of young arms: "They’re coming up and doing their job. It doesn’t seem like they’re trying to put more pressure on themselves getting here. They’re just doing what got them here and it’s great that these guys are getting the opportunity now and we’re able to see these young arms just on the field and watching them work at their craft. It’s fun to see and I think also, maybe with that thought of, sit down or whatever, that’s in September. I can’t speak for them, but I would just assume they probably feel, ‘Alright. I can just try and finish the season strong and show what I can do, I’m capable of going out and doing it.’ So I think that’s been helpful for them too. It’s great to watch.”

Then, Isaac Mattson produced a 1-2-3 eighth, striking out Alex Call in the process.
