JJ Wetherholt might be new to the National League Central, but he's already tormenting the team he grew up watching.
After collecting six hits, including three doubles and two home runs, in four games against the Pirates at PNC Park last month, Wetherholt made his presence felt once again with a two-run home run that put the Cardinals ahead here tonight at Busch Stadium:
HOME RUN: JJ Wetherholt puts the Cardinals on top with a two-run shot to center field. A 2-1 changeup on the outer third from Mitch Keller. First hit of the night for the home team, too. Cardinals, 2-0 -- From José Negron in St. Louispic.twitter.com/WEivpBdjRP

That's a changeup left on the outer third of the plate by MitchKeller, who fell behind 2-1 and was seemingly trying to get a ball over the plate to even the count. The former Mars and West Virginia University standout didn't miss it, though, sending out his ninth home run of the season, the fourth-most among qualified rookies in Major League Baseball.
“Wetherholt, hats off to him, he put a really good swing on it for a two-run homer," Keller said afterwards, adding that he intended to locate that changeup down and away. "He just made a really good swing on it. I was just kind of in shock, honestly. It didn’t sound like it off the bat. Usually you can tell right away. Maybe I didn’t hear it, but I thought it was going to be a fly ball and it just kept carrying.”
