Dominic Perachi was the Pirates' 11th-round pick back in 2022 out of Salve Regina U. After spending the 2023 season in Bradenton, he made it through two levels last year, pitching for Greensboro and Altoona.
Despite spending some time in the bullpen, Perachi still managed to log 114.2 innings in 2024, although most of his success came in Greensboro. He still managed a 3.53 ERA (3.69 xFIP) with 121 strikeouts to 42 walks.
Perachi isn't going to overpower anyone with his fastball, but he mixes it well with a big, looping curveball and slider to keep hitters off balance.
He does a good job attacking hitters north and south, using his fastball up in the zone to set up the breaking balls low and changing his opponents' eye level.
Getting a consistent minor league innings eater on day three of the draft isn't the worst thing, especially now with the limitations teams have on how many players can be in the organization. Perachi fits that mold as someone with over 200 innings pitched in two years while posting a 4.08 ERA.
