Matt Gorski was drafted in the second round of the 2019 draft out of Indiana, getting a $1 million signing bonus.
After hitting 17 home runs in 2021, he has recorded at least 20 in the next three seasons, giving him 87 for his career in the minors. He also has some speed, recording two 20/20 seasons and stealing 88 total bases in his career.
Gorski, 27, is really only a prospect in the sense that he still has rookie eligibility, but there has always been hope surrounding the outfielder. He has some of the loudest tools in the system and is a plus defender in center field.
The issue has been the swing-and-miss issues that have been plaguing him from the moment he entered pro ball. It forced him to repeat High-A despite being a college hitter a few years back and hasn't improved since.
Gorski enters his final season before minor league free agency, with perhaps his last chance to show he can play at the major league level.
