• The Pirates secure a 9-7 win over the Red Sox at LECOM Park. Nick Yorke and Billy Cook each homered. The latter collected three hits. Carmen Mlodzinski pitches into the fourth inning. Trip to Tampa for a matchup with the Yankees tomorrow night.
• Not the best outing for Clevinger here today. Leaving quite a few pitches over the heart of the plate. Doesn't look like he's locating as well as we've seen him in past spring appearances.
• Big sixth for the Pirates. Double by Ozuna, RBI single by Endy, single by Triolo and then a three-run shot for Yorke.
• HOME RUN: Cook with a solo shot to drive in his third run of the game. First time this spring where he's been able to contribute much offensively. Sinker right down the pipe.
• RUN: O'Hearn sac fly scores Lowe.
• Another encouraging sign there from Mlodzinski. Falls behind 3-0 and goes on attack mode. Ends up striking out McDonough on a splitter on the outer edge.
• RUNS: Cook's not a guy who has been talked about a lot this spring just because, at this point, he's really considered more of a Class AAA depth piece as an outfielder. Nice swing there, though, as he goes opposite field for a two-run double.
• Six pitches in the second for Mlodzinski. Went right after Romero to strike him out and then used three more pitches to get the final two outs. Exactly the type of inning you want to see from him early, especially if he's going to build up his workload.
• A 13-pitch first for Mlodzinski. Threw seven strikes and hit a batter.
• First pitch: Pirates vs. Red Sox, 1:05 p.m., Carmen Mlodzinski to Braiden Ward, 80 degrees, cloudy
