Despite playing in the Futures Game and being named the new top prospect in baseball on MLB Pipeline, the first part of July was a rare rough stretch for Konnor Griffin.
In the first 10 games of the month, Griffin was just 6-for-34 (.176) with just two extra-base hits and 10 strikeouts.
Griffin bounced back this past week against the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets.
Playing in all six games, Griffin went 10-23 (.435/.536/.565) with a double, a triple, two RBI, and five stolen bases. He recorded his third four-hit game of the season, the first with the Grasshoppers.
Still just 19, Griffin is hitting .323/.430/.492 with four home runs, 19 RBI, and 20 stolen bases in 33 games played with Greensboro this season. He's four stolen bases away from 50 on the season.
Here's how the top 10 prospects in the system did last week (Antwone Kelly slides in after the graduation of Mike Burrows):
1. RHP Bubba Chandler, Indianapolis GS, 1-0, 5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
