Konnor Griffin has a low-grade muscle strain to one of the flexors in the forearm, per Todd Tomczyk. He has been cleared to hit and cleared to DH, but he has not been cleared to throw. His throwing status will be reassessed in the coming days and Tomczyk says there is currently no concern regarding damage to the UCL.
It wasn't one specific throw that caused Griffin's injury. Tomczyk said Griffin expressed a couple nights ago that his elbow just wasn't recovering, so that's when the medical team took the next necessary steps to get him with physicians and experts in an effort to continue to learn.
Additionally, it appears as if Ryan O'Hearn is just days away from returning from his right quad injury. He ran the bases today and Tomczyk said the initial responses to that workload were positive. He's completely asymptomatic and is hitting, throwing and fielding.
"We'll see how he recovers tomorrow," Tomczyk said. "He'll have conversations with the performance team, medical staff, notably Donnie and Ryan, and they'll talk about the next steps after that."
Joey Bart (left foot infection) had a "really good exam" and was cleared to resume all weight room activities in shoes and play light catch. They will reassess to see how everything goes over the next couple of days. When the team gets to Houston, they'll reassess again and the hope is to begin a running progression and hitting progression next week.
"From there, we can probably map out a more definitive return to play calendar for Joey," Tomczyk said. "It's really, really encouraging news."
As for ChrisDevenski (undisclosed illness), he has transitioned his rehab down to Florida. He is playing catch on flat ground, he's exercising and they anticipate him beginning to throw bullpens sometime next week.
