Brandon Lowe displayed the power not once but twice against the Phillies tonight at PNC Park.
With his homers in the third and fifth innings, he produced his third multi-homer game of the season, tying Los Angeles' MaxMuncy and Philadelphia's KyleSchwarber for the second-most in Major League Baseball. Schwarber also had two homers in this same game and only Colorado's MickeyMoniak has more (four) multi-homer performances.
Lowe leads the Pirates in homers and is tied for the sixth-most in MLB. He's also now in the top 10 in RBIs (31) and in the top 15 in OPS (.915).
Lowe's maintained a high level of offensive success throughout the season, but he's not one to take all the glory for himself. He insists that guys like OneilCruz and BryanReynolds contribute to his success as much as he does.
“I get the first good swing off because Cruzy takes off all the pressure in the world," Lowe said, referring to the one-out single that Cruz hit with runners on second and third before Lowe's first homer. "Two outs and second and third is a lot different than a two-run lead with Cruzy on first base. The at-bats that Reynolds has been putting together behind me, there is a lot confidence in the guys all around that it takes a lot of the pressure off a single guy to do anything, so you just go out there, you play loose and play well.”
