According to an MLB Pipeline poll that featured insight from team executives, BubbaChandler has a 10.4% chance of winning the National League Rookie of the Year Award. Chandler trailed Chicago's MattShaw (18.8%) and Washington's DylanCrews (50%):
MLB PIPELINE
Given he replicates his minor-league success once he arrives at the major-league level, Chandler could indeed have a realistic shot of contending for the honor and giving the Pirates a second straight NL Rookie of the Year Award winner after PaulSkenes received it in 2024.
Chandler, the Pirates' top-ranked prospect, is coming off a season in which he went 10-7 with a 3.08 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP and 148 strikeouts in 119 2/3 innings between Class AA Altoona and Class AAA Indianapolis. While he only made seven starts with the Indians, Chandler certainly seems to have the makeup of an arm capable of impacting the big-league club at some point this season. Perhaps he could even become this year's version of JaredJones by pitching his way onto the opening day roster and into the starting rotation this spring.
