Andrew McCutchen spoke about last night's incident for about two minutes this morning when the Pirates' clubhouse opened and represented the team with his comments. He said the team was 'devastated' by the incident and said a prayer for the fan who fell over the Clemente Wall as the team returned to the clubhouse last night.
"Obviously we don’t know his condition past what everyone else knows. So, we’re just hoping for the best for him," McCutchen said. "I hope he pulls through because he’s the reason why we are here. He’s the reason why we play the game. People that show their support so we can do something we love, partly because of him and because of fans. So, I just pray that he’s alright."

Cubs pitching coach Tom Hottovy spoke this morning on Audacy's Mully & Haugh Show on 670 The Score in Chicago and said due to McCutchen's two-run double bouncing off of Dansby Swanson and into right field, it was a situation where everyone's attention was turned toward that area of the field.
"The craziest thing for us, from our vantage point, was the emotions of the play. You see the ball kick off Dansby and the ball shoots out toward right, so everybody is looking at the ball, so everybody saw it," Hottovy said. "You saw the whole thing from our vantage point. Your first thought is just shock, like, ‘What just happened? What was that?’ As the play settles, you realize it was actually a person and you immediately start thinking the worst. Just one of those situations where you just pray you never have to see.”
