Reynolds: Robbery of Ohtani home run was 'perfect'
Shohei Ohtani had a legitimate bid to give the Dodgers a two-run lead in the third inning here tonight at PNC Park. Bryan Reynolds didn't intend on letting him follow through on it, though:
Bryan Reynolds with a robbery of Shohei Ohtani at the wall in left. Would have been a two-run shot. Instead it ends the top of the third inning. Crowd goes absolutely nuts and Jones loves it. Unbelievable. -- From Josè Negron in Pittsburghpic.twitter.com/WdkFkC69Tb
That robbery got the crowd going and ended up being one of the most crucial plays of the night considering the Pirates would prevail, 9-8, over the Dodgers. And Reynolds, who has had his share of defensive struggles, made it look rather easy.
"It was a perfect ball for it," Reynolds said afterward. "It was high and had time to time it. It was perfect. It was a good catch.”
