The Pirates have signed Adam Frazier to a one-year, major-league deal, worth $1.525 million, according to a team source.
Frazier started his career in Pittsburgh and slashed .283/.346/./420 over six seasons. He added 39 home runs and 204 RBIs in 608 games. Frazier, who was traded to the Padres during his only All-Star season in 2021 for Jack Suwinski and a few others, has played for four different teams since and is coming off a season with the Royals in which he hit for a .202 average, struck out 59 times and recorded a .3 WAR. However, Frazier set career highs in 2023 when he tallied 13 home runs and 60 RBIs. He's produced a career slash line of .264/.327/.385 and has tallied 339. RBIs and 60 home runs.
How Frazier fits into the Pirates lineup is still unclear, but he has played all over the field during his career. This past season he played 26 games in right field and 43 at second base. He also made one appearance at first base, nine at third base and 10 in left field. But, he played mostly second base in the two years prior. Frazier could be a depth piece on the infield mostly but might provide another depth piece for the outfield.
