The Pirates only had three opportunities with runners in scoring position, but a little bit of power from Bryan Reynolds and Andrew McCutchen was enough to spark the offense tonight. 

Reynolds' first-inning at-bat was the one that really got things rolling, though. He fouled off seven pitches, worked his way into a 3-2 count and made Emmet Sheehan throw 12 pitches before he sent a 97 mph fastball into the seats located atop the Clemente Wall for a 1-0 Pirates lead. 

"I’ll take a homer, one pitch or 12 pitches," Reynolds said with a smile. "When you have an at-bat that long, you don’t want to get out. So it felt good to drive that ball. … That’s the motto.”
