"We got 0-2 on Durbin. He’s trying to go down," Don Kelly would say of Borucki. "Just left a pitch up out over the middle. Durbin didn’t miss it. I know he’s frustrated about it. He’s had a good year up to this point. A pitch that he didn’t get down."
The Pirates scored five unanswered runs to erase a three-run deficit prior to that outburst. OneilCruz homered in the third inning, with an exit velocity of 122.9 mph that marked the hardest-hit ball in the Statcast era, which began in 2015. AdamFrazier and TommyPham each had RBI singles in the sixth, Frazier a two-run double in the seventh.
Bailey Falter overcame a 28-pitch first inning in which he allowed three runs -- two earned -- four hits and three walks while striking out one in sticking for 5 2/3. He allowed three earned runs 29 1/3 innings all month.
