Reynolds 'getting closer' to returning to right field
Injuries have certainly piled up for the Pirates, but this is another encouraging pregame sight. BryanReynolds (teres major muscle strain) continues to play catch, as he's doing now here at Great American Ball Park. Reynolds has been symptom free while hitting, but how he responds to throwing is the important part. Pirates could certainly benefit from him being able to play in the field again.
I asked DerekShelton about the conversations he's had with Reynolds and the feedback he's received regarding his throwing progression. He said the feedback has been nothing but positive.
"I think he threw out to 120, so we're getting closer to him being ready to go back to playing the outfield, which would be extremely helpful for us," Shelton said. "Everything has been positive so far in the throwing. Hopefully within the next week or so we'll transition him back to right field."
