Marcell Ozuna’s second-inning home run accounted for the lone run scored off Giants starter Robbie Ray here tonight, but Don Kelly said he liked his team’s approach against the southpaw.
They drew four walks against him, including three in a row in the third inning, but couldn’t come through with big hits when they needed them. Ray ended up allowing four hits and striking out seven over six innings of one-run ball.
“The walks, getting guys on base, I think it was — again — we just missed that key hit,” Kelly said. “When we don’t win, that’s a big part of it. When we get guys on base, we aren’t able to capitalize on the opportunity.”
