• Ryan Borucki gives up the shutout in the ninth as Tim Tawa homers to left field.

• Pirates go down in order, Diamondbacks down to their final three outs.

• End of eighth inning: While Caleb Ferguson started the inning, Taner Rainey finished it off with a strikeout and ground out.

• HOME RUN: Cruz just sent a moonshot over the right-field wall. I thought that was going to hit the roof it went so high. Pirates, 10-0

• Skenes gets two groundouts to start the inning and Kelly comes to get him. His final line: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 7 K, 0 ER, 0 BB. He threw 67 of his 96 pitches for strikes. Caleb Ferguson is entering the game.

• Pirates go down in order in the seventh with three straight strikeouts. Skenes takes the mound for the bottom half.

• Ryan Thompson now pitching for Arizona.

• End of seventh inning: Skenes gives up a single in the bottom half, but works through the inning quickly by retiring the next two batters he faced. Skenes is at 87 pitches.

• RUNS: Reynolds triples to right field after Carroll misplays it in right. IKF had also scored on McCutchen's ground out. Pirates, 8-0

• Pirates staying aggressive as Triolo steals second after his single.

• RUNS: IKF comes through again. He pokes a double down the right-field line that somehow stays fair. Davis and Hayes score. Pirates, 6-0

• Gallen is done and Juan Morillo has entered. Gallen's final line: 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K.

• RUN: More for Skenes as Hayes singles to center, scoring Horwitz. Pirates, 4-0

• Davis continues to hit the ball well as he strokes a single into left center. Horwitz, after drawing a leadoff walk, moves to third.

• End of fifth inning: Skenes continues to shine as he gets Carroll to ground out to first. Skenes is at 74 pitches through five and has only given up three hits. We could be in for something special here folks.

• IKF ranges a long way for a pop out in foul territory before Skenes catches Herrera looking for the second time today. Grooved a splinker toward the middle of the plate.

• Canario strikes out and the Pirates get two runs out of that bases loaded situation.

• Reynolds puts together a nice AB and fights off a few pitches before hitting a linedrive right at Smith at first. Man, that was a rocket.

• RUNS: Cruz hits a grounder to Lawler, who tries to turn two. His throw goes awry and Hayes and IKF score. Pirates, 3-0

• He ends up poking one into left for a single. That bases are juiced with no outs and Cruz at the plate.

• After an IKF single, Triolo misses on back-to-back bunt attempts. Can't have that.

• Hayes draws a six-pitch walk.

• End of fourth inning: Thomas grounds out to Hayes for an easy third out. Skenes is at 59 pitches. Using a pretty solid mix of everything he's got.

• After giving up a leadoff single to Naylor, Skenes set down two straight, including a seven-pitch strikeout of Smith.

• Horwitz and Davis groundout and flyout in back-to-back at-bats, stranding Reynolds at third. 

• Smith makes a nice scoop at first to rob Canario of a hit, following Reynolds reaching on a fielding error.

• End of third inning: Skenes does what he does as he strikes out Gurriell with an inside splinker just after missing with a slider. 

• Skenes hits Perdomo to put runners on first and second with two away.

• Carroll gets the first big damage of the day, as he drives a changeup to right field for a ground-rule double.

• Herrera watches a fastball for a called third strike at the top of the zone as well. Couldn't do much there.

• Skenes burns a fastball at the top of the zone and Lawlar can't do anything but watch. He was completely frozen in place.

• McCutchen grounds out to first.

• Gallen gets Cruz to chase a knuckle curve below the zone. Two away in the third.

• End of second inning: Thomas puts a charge into a 99 mph fastball up in the zone, but it stalls out at the warning track in center field. Another quick inning for Skenes, he's at 25 pitches.

• Smith grounds out to Triolo for out No. 2.

• Skenes strikes out Suarez with a fastball on the inner edge.

• That threat comes to an end after Hayes flies out to right and IKF grounds into a 5-4-3 double play. 

• RUN: Davis continues to stay hot. He singles through the left side, scoring Canario. Pirates, 1-0

• Horwitz singles up the middle on an outside changeup and Canario goes first to third on the play.

• Canario draws a four-pitch walk, a couple were awfully close. 

• End of first inning: Skenes utilizes a devastating changeup to strikeout Naylor. It gets away from Davis, but Naylor stands in the box and is tagged for the out.

• Skenes gets two quick outs with a groundout and flyout before Gurriell Jr. singles into center field.

• Pirates go down in order as McCutchen grounds out to third and Reynolds flies out to left. Here comes Skenes.

• Cruz grounds out to first base, looks like he might've stepped on Gallen's foot, who ran over to cover the bag. He's being looked at by staff and trainers on the field.
