• Ballgame. Hayes whiffs, too. It's like there's a pattern.
• Horwitz whiffs. He'll fit right in.
• Reynolds whiffs.
• Jordan Romano, the righty, on for the save.
• End eighth inning. Stott flares out to Kiner-Falefa in shallow center.
• Marchán whiffs.
• Marsh 4-3.
• Skenes back out for the eighth. First time for that this season. He's at 89 pitches.
• Cutch pops out to short.
• Cruz caught looking. Sombrero. Two outs.
• Davis whiffs.
• Matt Strahm, the lefty, on for Philadelphia.
• End seventh inning. Bohm 5-3.
• Kepler whiffs through a change. That's eight for Skenes.
• Castellanos pops out to left. Don't fault Canario for looking a little silly out there in catching it. The wind's gone nuts. The flag poles are bending.
• Attendance: 44,356, a sellout.
• Kiner-Falefa hits right back to the pitcher, too, starting a 1-6-3 double play. Yep.
• Frazier's asked to bunt, he puts right back to the pitcher, and it's an easy force at third. (Sigh)

• The kid's out. Here comes the right-hander Orion Kerkering.
• End sixth inning. Schwarber with a hard 4-3.
• Harper one-hands a single into center.

• Reynolds 4-3.
• Cutch rung up. Doesn't like it, but Derek Thomas nailed it.
• End fifth inning. Marchán whiffs.
• RUN. Marsh barely beats out what would've been a 6-3 double play. Not conventional. Kiner-Falefa nearly made it happen. Game over. Drive safely, everyone. Phillies, 1-0
• Bohm flies out to shallow center. Hilariously, Cruz runs the ball all the way into the infield, the way you're taught in Little League. Still laughing here.
• Kepler shoots one up the middle. Runners at the corners. Nobody out.
• Castellanos loudly sends a grounder to Hayes' left that the latter can't handle. Promptly called a single here in the press box, and I agree.
• Cruz frozen on a change. He's not seeing this kid's slow stuff at all here today.
• Davis flies out to right.
• And promptly gets caught stealing by a mile when Davis swings through an apparent hit-and-run. Awful.

• End third inning. Stott bends his knees to whiff.
• First pitch: Pirates vs. Phillies, Abel to Cruz, 1:36 p.m., 74 degrees, partly cloudy
• Some sun peeking between the clouds, still a steady wind from the West, and we're almost underway here! Happy to have you with me! And a special hello to longtime subscriber Matt Mackowiak, who's in the house for this one!
