• Frazier then gets thrown out trying to steal second. 

• RUN: The Pirates add on an insurance run as Frazier singles to right, scoring Hayes. Pirates, 3-1

• Hayes doubles into left field.

• Canario grounds out to short. 

• Graham Ashcraft takes over in the eighth for Cincinnati. 

• Ferguson works a clean eighth as he strikes out De La Cruz with a slurve at the bottom right corner of the zone.

• Espinal grounds out to short.

• Friedl pops up a bunt right back to Ferguson on the mound. One away.

• Ferguson will start the eighth.

• End of seventh inning: Horwitz is caught looking as well. That one hit the upper left corner of the zone. 

• Reynolds is called out on strikes after taking a step or two toward first. Looked like Rogers' sinker was a little inside.

• Benson tries to steal second and he's thrown out after sliding over the bag. 

• Kelly now comes out for a mound visit and he's going to take Rainey out and go to Caleb Ferguson.

• Rainey hits Benson in the right foot. He's walking around in front of the Pirates' dugout and then limbers down to first accompanied by a trainer and a coach. He runs down the right field line to test it as well. 

• Will Benson is now pinch-hitting for Hinds.

• McLain does the same and that's two away. 

• Lux flies out to right. 

• Gavin Lux is pinch hitting for Joe.

• Tanner Rainey gets the seventh inning.

• End of sixth inning: Not sure Cruz went there but third-base umpire Gabe Morales said he did. that's Cruz's second strikeout today. 

• Taylor Rogers relieves Gibaut.

• Davis legs out an infield single to De La Cruz. He was originally called out but Kelly challenged and the play was overturned.

• Gibaut tries to pick off Pham and first but it's an errant throw and Pham takes second.

• Pham singles into right field. That's his second hit of the game. 

• It's a soft ground out to first for Frazier. That's two quick outs. 

• Hayes flies out to right. 

• Ian Gibaut enters for the Reds. Singer's final line: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 3K.

• Stephenson doubles into the left field corner but a nice relay from Pham to Kiner-Falefa to Davis catches Steer at the plate. Davis had a real nice deke at the plate as well, acted like the ball wasn't coming until he made the tag.

• Steer walks after Shugart got ahead 0-2. The last four pitches weren't close. 

• Shugart strikes out Hays with a 93 mph cutter up in the zone. Two away.

• De La Cruz lines out to right on the second pitch he sees from Shugart. 

• Chase Shugart is coming on in relief. Heaney's final line: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. He threw 97 pitches, 64 strikes.

• End of fifth inning: Hinds also robs Canario of a hit. He jumped up at the bottom of the Clemente Wall to make a catch. Would've surely meant extra bases.

• Horwitz hits a deep drive to right field but Hinds makes the catch on the warning track. 

• Wow! Friedl makes a great catch at the wall to rob Reynolds of a hit. He got turned around while tracking backward but was able to shift early enough to make the catch. 

• Espinal pops out to Frazier.

• Horwitz takes it himself on a groundball from Friedl. Two away.

• Heaney strikes out Hinds on three pitches. He elevated an 0-2 fastball to get the swing and miss. 

• End of fourth inning: Kiner-Falefa grounds out to shoot and strands two runners. Pirates are 1 for 6 with RISP and have stranded six. Heaney takes the mound for the fifth. He's at 82 pitches. 

• Cruz hits a linedrive to right field but Hinds makes the running catch. Both Frazier and Davis have to retreat. 

• RUN: Davis singles in Hayes with a shot to right field. Had an exit velocity of 105. Pirates, 2-1

• Pham strikes out on a pitch on the outer edge. He wasn't happy with home plate umpire Emil Jimenez.

• Frazier singles into right center and Hayes moves to third. Runners on the corner for Pham. 

• Hayes draws a five-pitch walk to start the bottom half. 

• That's a clean fourth for Heaney as he Ks McLain with an up-and-away slider.

• Joe lines out to second.

• Heaney strikes out Stephenson with a fastball on the outer edge. That's his second of the day.

• End of third inning: Canario strikes out on a slider that breaks out of the zone.

• Horwitz lines out to center. 

• Reynolds flies out to center. 

• IKF leads off the third with a walk. 

• Steer lines out to center, stranding two runners on. Reds get a run on two hits and a walk. 

• RUN: Hays sends a single past a diving Hayes at third. Espinal scores easily from second. All tied at 1-1

• De La Cruz walks on five pitches. 

• Espinal lines a ball over the glove of a leaping IKF. He's staying busy this inning. Two-out single puts a runner on for De La Cruz. 

• Friedl pops out to IKF, too. Two down. 

• Hinds retired on a pop out to IKF at short. 

• End of second inning: Cruz goes down looking at a fastball that just hits the inside corner of the zone. Kelly almost came out of the dugout after that one. 

• Davis draws a walk to put two on for Cruz. Ball four came inside and almost hit Davis. 

• Two-out single to right for Pham. 

• Frazier is also retired 4-3, but this one is an easier play for McLain to make.

• Hayes is retired 4-3 on a nice play by McLain. Had to move to his left and slide to get to that one. 

• McLain flies out to right, as the Reds strand two. Heaney starting to mix more of his breaking stuff to complement his fastball. He's at 43 pitches over two innings. 

• Joe grounds into a 3-6 fielder's choice. Heaney was late getting over to first, so they only get one. Two down, runners on the corners for McLain. 

• Stephenson walks to put two on for a familiar face in Joe. 

• Steer fouls off five straight from Heaney before concluding an 11-pitch at-bat with a single to left. 

• Hays retired by Hayes. A 5-3 putout for the first out of the second. 

• End of first inning: Canario flies out to relatively shallow right field. IKF attempts to tag, but Hinds' throw and Stephenson's tag are good enough to get him at home. Double play concludes the frame. 

• Nice at-bat by Horwitz results in a walk. Runners now on the corners with one out for Canario. 

• RUN: Reynolds does the job. Sac fly to center scores Cruz and allows IKF to move up to third. Pirates, 1-0

• IKF follows with a double the opposite way to right. Runners on second and third with no outs for Reynolds. 

• Cruz leads off the home half with a single to right.  

• De La Cruz grounds out 5-3 to end the top half of the first. 

• Heaney gets Espinal swinging at a fastball out of the zone. Heaney relying heavily on the fastball here early on. Only two sliders thrown to the first two batters. The rest have been heaters. 

• Friedl lines out to Cruz in center, and that's how this one gets started.
