The Pirates have won their arbitration hearing against Johan Oviedo. After earning $765,000 last season, the right-handed pitcher will make $850,000 this season. Oviedo made an argument to make $1.15 million this season.
After missing the entire 2024 season, Oviedo could work into the starting rotation this season alongside Paul Skenes, Jared Jones, Mitch Keller and others. In 2023, Oviedo started 32 games, threw 177 2/3 innings and recorded a 4.31 ERA, the second-best among Pirates pitchers that threw at least 68 innings. He also struck out 158 batters.
