Horwitz making progress with hitting, throwing progressions
Spencer Horwitz is taking another step in the right direction in his recovery from (thumb extensor) offseason surgery. ToddTomczyk said this morning that Horwitz is swinging the bat normally with soft toss for his hitting progression and has started a throwing progression.
• BaileyFalter, who recently had a "flare up" of general soreness, came out of his last outing in Lakeland on Monday feeling good and is on track for his next start.
• There is some encouraging news on the JohanOviedo (right lat strain) front. He's approaching three weeks since his lat issue surfaced during a live batting practice session and, according to Tomczyk, is completely asymptomatic with activities of daily life.
"He used to feel some stretching with some movement side to side over head, but that has subsided, that has resolved," Tomczyk said. "We're going to repeat some imaging later this week and that's going to help inform us, inform Ovi of the next step. That's very encouraging news."
• HunterStratton (knee) is scheduled to throw a sim game today. He'll throw one inning on the back field at LECOM Park.
• Nothing new to report on DauriMoreta (elbow). He is continuing with his bullpen progression.
