The Mountaineers were eliminated in the Super Regionals by host Louisiana State in Baton Rouge, falling short of their first-ever College World Series. LSU won Sunday, 12-5, after a taking another high-scoring game Saturday, 16-9.
Despite the disappointing finish, the team had it's best season in program history, finishing 44-16 in its first year under manager Steve Sabins, and Sabins acknowledged as much in the postgame press conference, appearing with players Logan Sauve and Sam White, saying ,“The two guys next to me are centerpieces to the most successful season in program history.” White had a strong Super Regional, going 5 for 9, with a home run, 2 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
Things are looking up for the program, overall, having made the Super Regionals for the second consecutive season and delivering 40-plus win seasons and Big 12 first-place finishes in 2023 and 2025.
