It seems like just yesterday that Dominik Simon and Evgeni Malkin were sitting on a pair of goals each, facing an empty net, and unable to get the caps and tossles tossed.

It WAS just yesterday that Bryan Rust and Malkin entered the twilight of the game in the same scenario. It even appeared, when Rust banged a chance off an unguarded post from the slot, that fans would get to keep their heads warm when they fled into the icy outside. Well, save for the few fans who thought Rust scored and found the ice with their hats prematurely.

But, it was when Rust got the puck again — this time opting to slot the puck to Malkin so the Russian could get a crack at avoiding the posts — that the hats had their time to shine.

Up top is a look at the joy of the ice crew as they gathered the evidence of Malkin’s feat. They normally take the ice of each of the nine media time outs to shovel snow from the surface, but I imagine this 10th stoppage of play is a bit more enjoyable to be a part of.
