• Davis strikes out swinging. That's a final. Royals 9, Pirates 3
• RUN: Canario drives in Gonzales with a two-out single. Royals, 9-3
• Gonzales walks for the second time tonight.
• End of eighth inning: Bednar gets Tyler Tolbert swinging on an 0-2 curve. Royals are three outs away from handing the Pirates their fourth straight loss.
• Cabrera gets out No. 2 of the inning on a strikeout of Isbel and now will be replaced by David Bednar.
• HOME RUN: Loftin goes deep to left-center. First pitch fastball from Genesis Cabrera. Royals, 9-2
• Pham looks to be struggling with his contacts, but draws a walk. He was messing with them during the at-bat and continues to do so down at first.
• David Bednar is warming up in the pen.
• A: 18,614
• Steven Cruz enters for Kansas City.
• End of seventh inning: Cabrera works a clean inning and gets a double play to end it. I would assume he works another inning to try and conserve the bullpen.
• If not for a Pasquantino error, the Pirates would've been retired in order again as Hayes reached first.
• End of sixth inning: Cabrera retires Pasquantino.
• RUN: Witt lines out to right, but it's deep enough that Isbel is able to score. Génesis Cabrera enters. Royals, 8-2
• Isbel triples into the right-center gap. It was on the outside part of the plate and he still found a way to pull it.
• Pirates go down in order for the second straight inning as Cameron has retired the last nine hitters. Shugart starts the bottom half.
• End of fifth inning: Shugart retires the next three hitters and is at 31 pitches. I would think he's done after that. There's some light activity in the bullpen, but no one is throwing yet.
• HOME RUN: Perez sends a 2-1 cutter down the middle into the left-field seats. That's the Royals' third home run of the night. Royals, 7-2
• Cameron sets the Pirates down in order and strikes out Kiner-Falefa with a changeup while reaching 81 pitches. Cameron has thrown 17 changeups, induced seven swings and five misses.
• End of fourth inning
• Shugart left that fastball in Witt's sweet spot. You won't have much success with pitch locations like that.
• HOME RUN: Witt adds to the Royals' lead with his fourth home run, sending it 404 feet to right field. Royals, 6-2

• Reynolds' leadoff single doesn't amount to anything as Gonzales lines out, while Hayes and Canario go down swinging. Shugart has now entered.
• End of third inning: Pham makes a really nice over-the-shoulder catch in left to prevent further damage. He bent over for a moment after that. Would imagine he took a pretty deep breath. Heaney is at 76 pitches.

• Chase Shugart is warming in the pen.
• RUN: Canha beats out the back end of a double play and Garcia scores. That really needed to be turned faster. Royals, 4-2
• Heaney now loads the bases by hitting Caglianone and Oscar Marin makes a mound visit.
• RUN: Perez pushes the Royals back in front with a double to left center. Looked like Canario struggled with the sun while chasing that one down and came up just short. Royals, 3-2
• RUN: Garcia pokes a low changeup into left field and India scores from second. Tied, 2-2. In the meantime, we have another shoelace break for Heaney.
• Davis blocks a ball in the dirt and comes up shaking his hand. He seems to be alright. He's back down in his crouch after home plate umpire Brian O'Nora walks out to talk with Heaney.
• The Pirates' scoreless streak ends at 30 innings.
• HOME RUN: Pirates take the lead as Pham drills a 3-2 cutter down the middle into the left-field seats. Traveled approximately 428 feet. Pirates, 2-1

• Pirates are in the hit column as Davis bloops one into shallow center.
• End of second inning: Heaney changes up his arm slot with a curveball and Isbel hits a dribbler in front of the plate that Davis easily handles.
• Really nice sliding stop by IKF to rob Canha of a hit near second base. His defense continues to stand out lately.
• Canario strikes out on three pitches as Cameron gets him to chase one of those changeups way out of the zone. Tried to check his swing but couldn't hold up.
• Hayes chops down on a high fastball and grounds into a 3-6-3 double play ball to erase a leadoff walk from Gonzales.
• End of first inning: Perez flies out to right field. Reynolds called off Gonzales at the last second.
• HOME RUN: Pasquantino then punishes a fastball on the inside half, sending it 378 feet. It's his 15th of the year and the 15th home run Heaney has given up. Royals, 1-0
