The Steelers are trading Kenny Pickett to the Eagles in a pick swap, a team source confirms with me and Chris Halicke. The team made the move official Saturday afternoon.
The Steelers are receiving pick No. 98 overall in this April's draft and two seventh-round picks in 2025. The Eagles receive Pickett and the 120th pick in this draft.
Pickett preferred to move on once the Steelers signed Wilson, per an ESPN report. The NFL Network added the Steelers indicated that Wilson would be the presumptive starting quarterback, rather than have a competition. Pickett did not want to be a part of that any more.
DK has a miniature column up on the matter. Read that HERE.
This now leaves Russell Wilson as the lone quarterback on the Steelers' roster. Mason Rudolph has signed with the Titans on a one-year deal, and Mitch Trubisky is rejoining the Bills to back up Josh Allen.
Not for nothing, that means all three quarterbacks who started for the Steelers in 2023 will be backup quarterbacks for their respective new teams in 2024, should Rudolph be backing up Will Levis in Tennessee. Pickett is set to be the Eagles' QB2 behind Jalen Hurts.
A post from Wilson at 3:43 p.m. Friday, nearly an hour after the news broke of the Pickett trade:
And an Instagram post from Mike Tomlin -- a birthday boy today --from this afternoon, shortly after Wilson and Patrick Queen officially signed their contracts:
