• It's over. 3-2 is the final. The empty-net goal is the game-winner. They play the Leafs tomorrow.
• GOAL: Penguins capitalize on the power pay with 21.4 left. Rickard Rakell. They've got two minutes left on the other half of the double minor. Bruins 3, Penguins 2
• Bruins hit the empty net shorthanded. Bruins 3, Penguins 1.
• Penguins get a power play with 1:34. Double minor, Rickard Rakell got high-sticked and it drew blood. Cole Koepke sits. So, if the Penguins score here and tie it they'll have power-play time to open OT.
• GOAL: Anthony Beauvillier shorthanded from Kevin Hayes. Hayes carried it into the Bruins’ end and protected it until Beauvillier got to the slot. Bruins 2, Penguins 1
• Penguins to the PK with 7:31 left. Blake Lizotte sits for two.
• Bad power play. They're getting booed.
• Half the building is chanting "LET'S GO PENS!" and the other half is chanting "SHOOT THE PUCK!"
• Penguins get a power play with 15:11 left. Mark Kastelic for roughing Vincent Desharnais. Just grabbed him from behind and threw him down after a whistle. Side note: Desharnais' helmet is always popping off.
• Cole Koepke hits a crossbar.
• Alex Nedeljkovic stops David Pastrnak on the penalty shot.
• David Pastrnak is hauled down by Erik Karlsson on a breakaway and gets a penalty shot.
• Third period is underway
• Intermission jerseys I spot in the crowd: Tanner Glass, Gary Roberts, Jarome Iginla, Chris Kunitz, Matt Cooke, Phil Bourque, Jack Lambert.
• Kevin Hayes is 8-1 in faceoffs. That's all I've got.
• The second period is over. Still 2-0 Bruins. Shots are 21-16 Bruins. Shots that period were 10-5 Bruins.
• Anthony Beauvillier has four of the Penguins' 16 hits.
• This is extremely boring.
• Nothing comes on that power play.
• Alex Nedeljkovic stops Cole Koepke on a shorthanded breakaway.
• Penguins get a power play with 10:12 left in the second. John Beecher gets two for tripping.
• Things have slowed down this period. Neither team getting much of anything.
• Big save by Alex Nedeljkovic to open up the second.
• P.O Joseph is out for the remainder of the game with an upper-body injury.
• Second period is underway. P.O Joseph and Brad Marchand didn't return.
• Kevin Hayes went 7-1 in faceoffs that period.
• P.O Joseph and Brad Marchand never came back after they got hurt.
• End of the first. Bruins lead, 2-0. Shots are 11-11. Penguins have 33 seconds on the power play to open the second.
• Penguins to the power play with 1:27 left. Nikita Zadorov slashed Evgeni Malkin. It was in the nose and Malkin is bleeding but still only two minutes. Those two don't like each other. Not the first time there's been an incident between these two.
• P.O Joseph is hurt and goes down the tunnel. Went to play the puck in the corner and got hit by two Bruins. Stayed down for a moment but got up on his own. Bruins seemed to be targeting him ever since Brad Marchand went down.
• Back to full strength. Penguins got five shots to even the count at 8-8, but none of them amounted to anything.
• Everyone from that initial scuffle comes out of the boxes. Just 5-on-4 power play for 58 more seconds.
• Charlie Coyle trips Evgeni Malkin 58 seconds into the Penguins power play. So, they get 1:02 of a five-on-three.
• Top power play, with Sidney Crosby in the box: Erik Karlsson, Evgeni Malkin, Rickard Rakell, Kevin Hayes, Bryan Rust
• Mark Kastelic gets two for unsportsmanlike conduct. Jeffrey Viel gets two for roughing, Sidney Crosby gets two for slashing. So Penguins are getting a power play with 11:59 left in the first.
•The Bruins have an 8-3 lead in shots.
• GOAL: Mason Lohrei, who drew the penalty, capitalizes on the power play. Evgeni Malkin yells at the ref on the way out of the box. I think Malkin had been arguing earlier on the hooking call that Lohrei held his stick. Bruins 2, Penguins 0
• No penalty for P.O Joseph on the play. Bruins seem to be arguing it. Assuming the non-call is because Brad Marchand was already going down.
• Brad Machand gets up and goes down the tunnel with assistance.
• Brad Marchand is face-down on the ice. He fell forward into the boards -- looked like he lost his balance on his own, but P.O Joseph was right on him and pushed him as he was going down. Hit his head on the boards.
• Penguins to the PK with 14:51 left in the first. Evgeni Malkin sits for two for hooking.
• If this is following the script, Phil Tomasino is going to score on his backhand at some point.
• GOAL: For the third game in a row, Alex Nedeljkovic allows the first shot. David Pastrnak. Crazy. Partial breakaway, he dove the wrong way and left Pastrnak a big space. Bruins 1, Penguins 0
• Cursed: I see a Tanner Glass No. 15 jersey down in the lower bowl. A Jarome Iginla too.
• We are underway.
• Bruins' lines and pairings:
Morgan Geekie - Pavel Zacha - David Pastrnak Brad Marchand - Elias Lindholm - Charlie Coyle Georgii Merkulov - Matthew Poitras - Jeffrey Viel Cole Koepke - John Beecher - Mark Kastelic
Nikita Zadorov - Brandon Carlo Mason Lohrei - Andrew Peeke Parker Wotherspoon - Ian Mitchell
• Just ran into Sam Poulin at the snack table here. He missed Wilkes-Barre's last couple games with an injury, I asked and he's still hurt. Just here rehabbing.
• Emil Bemstrom and P.O Joseph draw in, Boko Imama and Ryan Graves sit.
Rickard Rakell - Sidney Crosby - Bryan Rust Anthony Beauvillier - Evgeni Malkin - Cody Glass Danton Heinen - Kevin Hayes - Phil Tomasino Emil Bemstrom - Blake Lizotte - Noel Acciari
P.O Joseph - Kris Letang Matt Grzelcyk - Erik Karlsson Ryan Shea - Vincent Desharnais
