The NHL is putting together a 'Quarter-Century Team' for each franchise, picking the best three forwards, two defenseman and goaltender from 2000 to now. Here's the Penguins' team:
Forwards: Phil Kessel, Chris Kunitz, Mario Lemieux Defensemen: Brian Dumoulin, Brooks Orpik Goaltender: Matt Murray
Seems fine to me. The most interesting argument to be had would be about taking Lemieux off, just given the timeframe here. He played only 170 games in this quarter-century. A good case could've been made for Pascal Dupuis,Jordan Staal or Bryan Rustinstead.
The Penguins had a couple players take their cracks at picking the Quarter-Century Team before it was announced, and props to Rust for nailing it:
