Former Steelers quarterback Bruce Gradkowski is joining the Lions' coaching staff as an offensive assistant, according to a report by ESPN.
Gradkowski spent the previous two seasons as offensive coordinator and play caller of the UFL's St. Louis Battlehawks. This is his first coaching job in the NFL.
Gradkowski joins former Steeler Deshea Townsend as members of Dan Campbell's staff in Detroit. Townsend is the defensive passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach. Antwaan Randle El had previously served as the Lions' wide receivers coach before leaving for Chicago along with Ben Johnson to become the Bears' wide receivers coach and assistant head coach. Larry Foote also interviewed for Detroit's defensive coordinator position, but Kelvin Sheppard was promoted from within.
Lots of former Steelers with ties to the Lions.
