Things have been relatively quiet between the Steelers and George Pickens since the team traded the former second-round pick to the Cowboys.
Until now.
In response to an interview by Prospect Media with current Steelers Payton Wilson and Beanie Bishop that was posted today, Pickens commented with a vengeance.
"They the cheapest organization," Pickens wrote. "Ain't no stacking year after year. They gone let them (expletive) go too soon as it's time. Lmaoo."
The "year after year" part is in response to Wilson talking about how learned about the trade and his reaction to it.
"The front office isn't just making moves for this year. That's what I've had to learn," Wilson said. They're really trying to stack year on top of year on top of year. Obviously, us being in it we want to win a Super Bowl every single year, but it's probably a little bit different for the front office. They make this trade, okay, we can set up for this pick this year. Obviously, I have no clue what I'm talking about, but that's just the way I look at it. So I don't really like ... where I'm at, I try and play ball, try and do my job."
The comment has since been deleted. Pickens posted on his Instagram story a few hours later, denying that he made the comment.
"Literally on a plane," he wrote. "No service. Just landed and seen straight lies from Pitt fans. Stop with AI trying to make a story. I'm happy for everything the Steel City did for me. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there."
Omar Khan spoke with the media this past week in regards to the trade, indicating that a third-round pick in 2026 and Day 3 pick swap in 2027 was worth parting with a freakishly talented receiver.
"We had three years with George and we had some exciting times," Khan said. "But it was just time for a fresh start for both sides. It was the right thing."
